Papiamentu is derived from different languages like Portuguese, Dutch and even English. It's a mix of different languages that created its own identity. Because of this, many locals speak up to 5 different languages, meaning that you won't have too much of a hard time communicating around here.

When it comes down to one of our all-time favorites, Kome Restaurant is definitely on the top of our list!

If you're looking for a bit more upscale dining at a more affordable price, this is the place to be, right in the center of Pietermaai. They serve several different types of cuisine, ranging from international to local. And to top it all off? Their service is impeccable!

2. De Visserij Piscadera

For all the seafood lovers, De Visserij is definitely one to check out! The concept at this place is a bit different than your usual restaurant. Here, you will come in, order, pay and pick a spot to sit. While you wait for them to bring you your food, you can pass by the bar and buy yourself some refreshing drinks to cool off in this "summer-year-round" weather. Their menu consists of different types of fish, shrimp and even seared tuna, cooked to your liking!

3. Kyoto Sushi & Grill

Sushi lover? Then you can't miss this one! Located in the heart of the Jan Thiel Beach area, Kyoto offers something for everyone on the menu. From several different sushi types, to steak or chicken. If you're up for a good show, make a reservation for their Teppanyaki table experience! They'll make your dinner right in front of you.

4. Serafina

Up for some amazing Italian food? This is the place to be. Located in Penstraat, close to the Avila Beach Hotel, this restaurant will provide an amazing culinary experience to say the least. The authenticity of their dishes and the love they put into their cooking can be felt in every bite you take.

5. Brisa do Mar - Pop's Place

We're in the Caribbean, so another seafood option must be on our list! Brisa do Mar offers something for everyone too, so if you're not a seafood lover, you can indulge in other types of meat! Known for their fresh catches, this is an amazing restaurant to enjoy a nice lunch or dinner with a view over the Caracasbaai Bay area.

6. Blackjack Bar & Restaurant

Last but not least, one of our favorite spots. Also located in the Pietermaai area, Blackjack is the perfect place to wind down after a long day of exploring the island. Order one of their signature cocktails and some appetizers, or go in for the big meals. Their menu is incredibly varied, so you'll definitely find something that makes your mouth water!
