Papiamentu: Curaçao's local language

Sun, sea and sand? You bet you can find the best beaches around the island!

In this article, we're preparing you for the crystal clear blue water experiences you're about to have once you arrive in Curaçao. These are our favorite beaches you definitely must visit on your beach-hopping day!
  • 1. Playa Grandi

You must have heard of the famous turtle beach! If not, then allow us to inform you. Playa Grandi, otherwise known as Playa Piskado (which translates to fisherman's beach) is the place where everyone goes to see turtles up close and personal.

Although we do ask you not to touch these turtles as they are protected wildlife, we do recommend to pass by and see them for yourself, as it is a wonderful experience!

  • 2. Playa Forti

Playa forti is definitely a tourist hotspot as well. Being one of the most popular beaches on the island, people love to go here to check out the most amazing views of the crystal clear blue waters. If you want to experience an amazing Curaçao sunset, this is where you should be!

  • 3. Jan Thiel Beach

If you're up for a bit more of a busy beach, Jan Thiel beach is definitely one to check out. This place is a great spot to spend an entire day, as they have more than just a beach.  Enjoy a treatment at the spa, eat at one of the many restaurants they have, or even try your luck at the Casino in between your dips in the water.

  • 4. Mambo Beach

Similar to Jan Thiel Beach, Mambo Beach is also a must-visit. With an entire boulevard located right on the beach, you can swim, shop, dine and relax all in the same spot.

  • 5. Grote Knip

Finally, our ultimate favorite: Grote Knip. If you're looking for that perfect Instagram shot, you'll find it here. Clear blue waters, white sand and sometimes even some of our local pig friends will welcome you on arrival. They're harmless and love to take pictures! But just to be safe, try not to touch or engage too closely.
